In 1994 when the UNP lost the elections Gamini Dissanayake and few others including President Wijetunge wanted Ranil to stay in Temple Trees till the party get couple of members to form the government. But Ranil refused and left the office stating that the people wanted a change and I will never be a party to block them. That was the Ranil then. Now look at the U turn he has taken to protect the RP family. Knowing very well that the protesters are demanding Gota to resign without any hesitation he has come forward to block that. Shame on him. He may have the experience and the expertise to sail through the turbulence but he should not forget that there are much more qualified economists and experts inside and outside the parliament who can turn around the economy and pull out the country from the impending economic disaster . With that in mind when the opposition was laying some reasonable conditions to form the government for a short period with the support of the Buddhist monks and the priests of other faiths Ranil did PODI TRICKS not POLITICS . Very soon the protesters and others will remember his parents as well like the way they have been remembering the parents of RP brothers. Damn shame Mr. Prime Minister.
