Man 2020-2021 Bo is just different. You still have that quick comical side but also a darker more serious side. And whoever says he can’t sing is tone deaf. I think he knows something we don't know and was trying to give us all a warning be good and make the most of every day stay safe
I didn't really get this song the first time I heard it within the context of Inside. However at this point I've watched it so many times I cant help but cry.
Here to request Creator Made an Animal again, and thanks for putting these out for all of us
I think the funny feeling is essentially existential dread. The song reads kind of like a rundown of all the random news lines of the day, and some it’s happy, some of it’s terrifying, but the main reaction is feeling insignificant and unable to do anything about any of it other than simply consume it and wait for the next thing to happen. Just that realization that everything is out of your control, and that’s either comforting or scary or both. Idk that’s just my hot take - it’s a great song! Very satirical Bob Dylan type vibe for me.
Also, another seemingly irrelevant idea I had about the “obeying all the traffic laws in grand theft auto 5” line is that I think he’s inferring that we’re headed towards this ‘metaverse’ era and I think gta 5 was kind of the first big semi-metaverse playground for people, and when he, somewhat casually, says obeying all the traffic laws, I think he means like eventually we’ll even be policed online because the metaverse will be where we live our lives. Even that will be a place we can be controlled when the point was supposed to be it’s a place where we can do whatever we want. Just like what happens to everything, I suppose. Idk maybe a reach but just an idea I had when I was lit re-listening to this lol.
thank you
“20000 years of this, 7 more to go” is just absolutely gutting.
Everything between “full agoraphobic” to the line “hating what you find” describes a long-winded panic better than anything I’ve ever heard in my entire life
@cliffbeats bro I really appreciate the appreciation you show for everything you react to. It’s frustrating when people don’t get the message but they just say shit and don’t even try to actually understand the lyrics. Keep up the good work. Ps I know this comment is months late so there’s no way you’ll see it but on the off chance you do… just know you’re awesome
Googling derealization is the line that hit me hardest. I suffer from anxiety, depression and panic attacks as well; had my first attack around 6/7. 32 now and it’s still a constant battle. Bo’s work has helped me through some rough times, we’re the same age and I found his stuff when he first started. Seeing him out here like that shows me I’m not alone in my struggle and helps me feel less crazy.
The book on getting better being hand delivered by a drone part after he mentioned agoraphobia kind of hit me hard when I first heard it, and tbh still does. I started having more agoraphobic tendencies in the years before the pandemic but still managed to get out for some things, and then when the pandemic hit and everyone needed to stay home it made hiding away the right thing to do and I clung to that. Because of other health conditions everything I got was either brought over by my bf or ordered online and delivered. The things that helped me get out before like needing to go shopping went away, and even my doctors appointments that may have helped me were via phone. That along with how heartbreaking it was to see so many others suffering and losing family just became too much and even once there was a vaccine and things started opening up going out still felt like too much. >.<
it makes me so happy watching someone realize that "That Funny Feeling" is referring to existential dread
I love how all these reactions look exactly like the reaction Bo did for "Unpaid intern". That's gotta be the most meta thing ever done. LOVE IT
This one in pair with the fake Ted Talk skit (the one where he has like 3 voices going all at once) from his Outtakes work really well together (if you haven’t seen that one yet)!
While this one talking a bit on irony in a lot of ways, the existential dread of the post-modern age is a common theme between both this one and the fake Ted Talk section The ending of the Ted Talk one gives me major chills every time tho…
:::Googles 'derealization':::
Shit.
He’s a master at creating such happy melodies and pairing them with dark, thought-provoking lyrics.
What happened to the titty rubbing Cliff?
Dad are you watching?. You feel that
@ v5EMaCZMMOQ&t=6m40s 6:40 to @ v5EMaCZMMOQ&t=7m40s 7:40 you were speechless Cliff. The song hit you hard!
