► Subscribe to Red Bull Music: 🤍 This is what happens when Brazil’s emerging grime scene touches down at Red Bull Music Studios London. Sao Paulo’s Febem and Fleezus join forces with the cream of the UK grime scene – Jevon, Eyez and Yizzy – to bring these different sides of the world together. Grime exploded out of London in the early ‘00s, but as it tipped from the underground into the mainstream, it also spread globally, sparking homegrown scenes in countries around the world. More recently, it’s settled in Brazil, where up-and-coming MCs like Febem, Fleezus and Leall – as well as producers like Cesrv – are blending familiar grime sounds with more typically Brazilian genres like baile funk. Says Cesrv: “It feels as though grime belongs here – it already operates at a similar BPM to baile funk. It’s getting bigger with people like Febem and Fleezus – there are at least four shows a month these days.” He mentions that kids are really paying attention to it and largely because of its similarity in sound to baile funk. “This is hood music for the kids here and we’re trying to connect it with where it originally comes from.” Two languages, one bpm – it’s pure energy. This mini-documentary explores #Grime - the UK's most cherished homegrown culture from 2002 to now. Made for decade-long and brand-new Grime fans alike, I aim to dispel a lot of confusion as to what Grime really is. From Wiley to Stormzy, Rinse FM to Radio 1, and Channel U to SBTV, a lot of the key events, people and platforms have been covered. This #Documentary will contain interviews, music videos, sets, freestyles, stage shows and more, representing Grime from it's roots to it's success.
